Outstanding Devotional and Prayer Book

This isn't you standard devotional book giving you a daily message. It is more of a primer for assisting you in your prayer life. I find reading a chapter a day along with my other devotional materials is very rewarding. I'm not Catholic but this French Catholic priest gets it when it comes to prayer, talking and waling with God every day of your life. I first read a small snippet from Michel Quoist in the Celtic Prayer Book which was inspiring and intriguing. It made me want more. I found his works on Amazon in the used book section. For a few dollars, I have a companion walking along with me in my prayer life that understands his fellow Christians' highs and lows, mistakes and successes, and faith and doubts.

From the very start I was grabbed and felt like I was in the story

I home-school my son who is 11 and this was part of his reading curriculum for the year. From the very start I was grabbed and felt like I was in the story. I love how it is written from a Christian point of view, It was not gruesome yet was able to "get the point across". We both loved this book so much, he wanted to buy it for one of his teachers at church. He is even reading it again for the 2nd time. There are so many life lessons that are taught in this book. As an adult I would even say, this is my new all time favorite book. Many of the parts of the books,I have printed out and have placed through the house to read. I have recommenced this to my homeschooling friends and those who dont. I think it should be a required reading for all kids. I wish there were more books by Mrs. Hess!

Easy to play, beautiful music

As someone who can "sort of" play the keyboard, I really appreciate this songbook. Most of the songs are quite simple to play, yet they are also quite beautiful. Of the dozen or so sheet music books I own, this is my favorite. I amaze myself when I can sit down to play Where do I Begin and actually make lovely sounds with my amateur fingers.
I once watched a documentary on film scoring which pointed out the difference between movie music and TV music. TV theme music has to be frentic and grab your attention before you change the channel, the composer of movie music has the luxury of knowing his audience isn't going anywhere. Thus, movie music is often simple and emotional. Comparing the music in this song book with another I have of TV themes, this appears to be accurate. The movie themes are much gentler on the ears, and hurt the fingers less.

This book is already dog-eared from use! It has up-to-date songs as well as older selections. It came without a spiral binding, however, and I needed to have that done at a printing house. Common Sense

The book provides common sense to our eating habits. The problem is that it assumes that we all lead normal lives, with time to breathe, and smell our food and wake up plenty in time to make big breakfast or get home early enough to cook health meals. It assumes also that the non-Indian readers can somehow figure out all the Indian ingredients and follow up. On the flip side I really enjoyed her sense of humor and the reasonable approach in food. I haven't lost any inches but I liked all the stories shared and advices on how and when to eat food and make it work for you. Thanks.

Fantastic book!!!

Love it!!! To the point, no nonsense writing style. All claims (seemingly outrageous but honest and in my experience, true!) supported by scientic info. Great tips and suggestions for what-to-eat for Indian vegetarians. My fav part - eat lots of different things throughout the day (in limited quanity of course) to get a balanced veg meal :-) The can-do attitude the book encourages will actually make you INITIATE THE CHANGE in your lifestyle. The focus on a well-rounded healthy living by managing both diet and exercise together is I think the crux of her book. She gives you tips on how to go about it. But essentially if you get the principles in the book, you can be the designer of your own healthy life!

One of the ways I have realized - to move inwards...

The overarching msg I get from the book is another method for me to follow around 'getting in touch with myself'. Food is One of the ways an individual can connect with his/her inner self (rather is an imp process to move inward) - "Anna he purnabrahma" (here brahma can mean god/our inner or spiritual self)
The day we start recognizing our hunger signals and eat accordingly, we reach the first step... etc
Its a 'simple to understand', metaphorical, persuasive book!
Close on the heels of realizing, "why do I need an external validation of 'myself'?, when I love myself and love being with myself" and to achieve this - understanding the importance of trying to be in touch with myself (by increasing awareness), I tumbled upon this book...(I had heard about it in bits and pieces but not read it)
The overarching msg I get from the book is another method for me to follow around 'getting in touch with myself'. The day we start recognizing our hunger signals and eat accordingly, we reach the first step... Rujutha connects the dots well - Ayurveda, Yoga and Nutrition science. She literally shouts 'dont kill yourself by starving'. Eat nutrient rich meal close to your 'genes' at the right time, right quantity, and calorie intake will fall in place if we follow 4 principles (the cornerstone of her book). Stop chasing calories by hanging your stomach on the 'suli'. She shames 'We understand our cars, houses, heart and lungs so much better and forget the energy churning stomach...' Her reasoning is good - why vitamin/mineral supplements shud be taken - many of us believe that taking external vit/mineral supplements is not the right way, we shud get these naturally... she gives a story line why this cannot happen in an urban set up..How the major nutrients (carb, proteins, fat, mineral/vitamins) need to be eaten at what time, why and in what proportions.She explains why stress causes obesity - cortisol increases-->converts any food to fat-->. Why cortisol is produced under stress - the evolutionary reasons. I was taught not to leave the used vessels dry, instead wet it or immediately wash it - she tells why...
How mindfulness eating vs consumerism helps.My grandparents made us eat our meal by sitting on the floor in 'sukhasan' posture and without talking. She explains why this helps and how body and mind benefit... and what u shud do when u are silent...Why we shud eat slowly and savour and how the feeling of eating shud be connected to nourishing each and every cell -basically increasing awareness.

As a 28 year veteran MATHCOUNTS coach I have seen many sets of great problems produced by many outstanding coaches over the years. I can tell you that I am truly excited by the Practice Competitions for MATHCOUNTS written by MATHCOUNTS coach Josh Frost. I have known Josh Frost for over 10 years and have found him to be one of the best coaches in the nation. My students like taking the "Frost Tests" as they call them. They know the problems will be interesting and challenging. I have seen,first hand,how Josh writes problems that have helped his students gain a deeper understanding into concepts and be better prepared for challenging problems on the same concepts. Josh has a gift. He understands the need to present problems that intrigue students, and is able to write these problems for all ability levels. His materials are a win-win for coaches and students alike.

Perfect 5/5

Excellent resource on learning SpriteKit, much easier than the older methods for creating iOS games. It's easy to follow along with, the project created in the book covers all the basics and even get's you up to submitting your application to Apple which is really helpful. I don't really enjoy following along in a book and getting to the end just to see I'll need to pickup another book to continue onward, this book didn't do that and I highly recommend it.

Puts the rabbit in the hat for SpriteKit.

I've seen a few books on SpriteKit and I think this is probably the easiest to assimilate. The book is mostly built around a single game project that expands in completeness/complexity as the book progresses. The author takes you from a very simplistic app to one that has simple gameplay but covers all of the basic operation of SpriteKit to a complete app that includes sound, hardware interaction and particle emitters.

At first I did wonder if this concentration on a single game would be limiting, but it is not. The author takes the time to explain just about everything and the one game really is an ideal vehicle to understand what you need to build just about any game with SpriteKit. I particularly liked the section about adding shadows.

A great intro to Spritekit, clearly explained and with some very practical information about handling Audio.
