Good In Chunks

If you are wanting to learn how to be more romantic with your partner, I'd highly recommend Every Day Love. It's a great book. The format is a bit odd though. Basically, there is a short life lesson (about two pages long) which usually includes a real-life example from one of her clients. After this little life lesson, there is a "To-Do" page-long list which gives you five different things you should take out of the lesson and gives you activities to implement them in your own life.
I truly believe there's a lot of great information in this book. I do. However, do not pick this book up wanting to read it from cover-to-cover. It's a waste of your time. While each of the life lessons does provide a great lesson, it's also very short and succinct. As such, unless you actually take a break from reading after each lesson, you won't end up taking away any of the information. Since there are about 80 different lessons in the book, I'd highly recommend you read a lesson - one a week - and during the week, attempt to do some of the "to-do" parts to implement the lesson into your life and make you and your partner closer.
Most of the "to-do"s have to do with learning to discuss or say things with your partner. Sometimes it is a topic to discuss with your partner. Sometimes it is something to do with your partner. Sometimes it wants you to answer some questions in your journal. The different to-dos really vary.
The life lessons honestly all do give good information. It's all stuff that, if we thought about it, we'd be able to figure out on our own, but I think we all sometimes need a bit of a push in the right direction. Like I said, though, they are very short and very to-the-point, so if you read this straight through (which would only take about an hour and a half), you won't absorb any of the information. Doing one once a week requires 5 minutes of reading and just attempting to do the lesson all week.
I will note that the author does take a very abstract approach to love. She talks about it in terms of flowery, soft words. Each chapter starts off with a poem about love. Most of the attention to love is given it as an emotion - not as a logical feeling. Just letting you know in case this would bother you.
Either way, if you want a way to help feel the romance in your relationship, I'd highly recommend "Every Day Love" as long as you are prepared to read the book in short spurts.

Ah....this author, Judy Ford is a 'LOVER.'

I read 'Every Day Love' pretty much in one sitting. At the beach actually, in earliest Spring and it was very chilly but I could not put the book down ~ even to go home and make tea and read it in the comfort of my living room instead.
That's how hypnotized I was.
I remember thinking "Ah....this woman, Judy Ford, is a Lover. With a captital 'L.'
She is so authentic, so real, so true. True hearted. This book is a portal into the greatest art form there is ~ the Art of Loving. Judy opens her arms and invites you to share her life's quest ~ the quest to transform your relationship with your beloved through her beautifully crafted lessons of artful loving.
This book taught me so many things. How far we are capable of reaching out to one another no matter how despairing things may look. How to connect with one another in an imaginative, creative and enlivening way. How to truly MAKE LOVE, express love and celebrate the mystery and miracle of love. How to change the one person you can change: yourself, and thereby create an extraordinary relationship.
Judy knows so very well what Ginsberg once penned in a poem...
No rest

no sleep
without dreams
of love ~
be mad or chill
obsessed with angels
or machines,
the final wish
is love.
With every simple yet illuminating lesson you will feel brighter and brighter because Judy is the beacon of happiness.
